For a once a year tool Ryobi is hard to beat. Belt sanders are normally something you can't cheap out on but it all depends upon usage. If your serious Bosch, Makita or Porter-Cable are needed. For a once every blue moon project the Ryobi should work.

It's honestly a little underwhelming in my personal opinion. Tends to bog down a little more than I would like, given that it's a belt sander. I've had greater success with my Ryobi random orbital sander in terms of finish & material removal vs the belt sander.

I got mine new from Ebay for a fraction of the price had I purchased it at Home Depot and it honestly has more than paid for itself, which is why I haven't really sought to replace it with something a little more heavy duty.

Ended up going even cheaper. Rented a nice Makita belt sander from HD for $17. Got the job I needed to do done, and don't have yet another power tool I hardly use taking up space.
