Good Afternoon Folks.

Names TJ.

Another longtime lurker here from the Granite State. Thank you for the little tidbits I have acquired from here over the years. The time that I never thought would happen may be here in the next fiscal for me to put up my shop, but that will get its own appropriate thread.

Little background.

Grew up in the high voltage power generation world. Graduated college with no job prospects in 12. Did over 10 years in heavy civil dirt and utility work in Massachusetts. Managed to be a halfway decent heavy equipment and truck mechanic along the way. Transitioned to an unnamed state agency as a heavy equipment operator for more money. Now I am a highway construction inspector for same unmentionable agency for even more money except I’m no longer the poor ***** up to his johnson in water trying to repair a main. I am a terrible carpenter. Not so bad metal fab fella. Better electrician. And so on.

I know a little about a lot but I’m always trying to learn more. Looking forward to the help from here.

/R,

TJ

Greeting TJ from the cornfields of Iowa! I’m Jake, a retired paramedic who pretends to be a good woodworker. Was busy chasing women and drinking when dad, who was a master carpenter, wanted to teach me woodworking. i specialize in cabinets and CNC work. Decent group of folks here. Once again, welcome!

Thanks Jake! Unfortunately my dad sold his half of his power company and a certain POTUS at the time yanked the tax credit for methane renewable power generation while I was still in college. So that world kind of had the door slammed shut for me. And when I finished school for criminal justice there were no cop jobs up this way. So I had to improvise and landed in dirt. Haha.

I always wish I had paid more attention when people along the way tonight me finish carpentry. Never really knew anyone in CNC. One of my top YouTube fellas is aVe though! I’m not much for Canadians since my sister married one but aVe takes the cake!

Thanks! Just trying to be a better and smarter human than I was today.

Used to be very active on the truck forums but I’m afraid those have shifted to other mediums and lost their spirit. Good to still see some forum activity. I learned a lot from them.
