Does anyoe have a good on-line source of electrical parts? I have a Sears battery charger/booster that is about 20 years old. Worked great until the switch got broken. It appears to be a common, small part. It's no longer avail. on the Sears site, probably due to age. Thanks.

Take it apart and see if there is any identifying marks on the switch that will indicate who the original switch manufacturer was. You could also take the switch to a local electrical supply house and see if they can come up with a alternative. I have a 20 year old Sears charger that gave up the ghost 10 years ago, and I couldn't get it fixed. I held onto that unit till this past winter when I was cleaning out the garage. I had always hoped to find another one like it for spare parts, but never did. That has always been the downside of Sears electrical items. They were the only place to get parts and when they discontinued selling the part, you were just SOL.....

I have the switch right here. No real ID on it except a number 644-160104, its electcial limits, and the UL and CSA marks. I will try a local electrical supply house. Otherwise, I think I might be SOL. Thanks.

I would think you should be able to find some kind of switch that will work, even if must be mounted dfferently.:headscrat

I would guess it was built by schumaker. Find the model number on it and I will ask on the Craftsman Club board for you.

I posted the model number on the Craftsman Club site. Adam, who is a PMT in California has a knack for crossing over old parts. There is an explosion and parts breakdown on the Sears.com parts site, but the part number for the switch is no longer available. How old is the unit? I will let you know what the guys say.

Here is a response from Joe at the Craftsman Club Board

He said to check with Pete Mazariz (spelling?) at Schumaker. Pete should be able to tell if this is an old vendor code they bought out.

Is he the guy that runs the OWWM OEM list for Craftsman? I've e-mailed

As others have noted, the switch can be matched up by any electrical shop.

I looked up my "200" series Schumaker and it has numbers for part #s, not letters and numbers. That leads to me to believe it's not a Schumaker or it's an older company that Schumaker bought out. Pete M. will know this for sure.

If not, it may be a Solar, Goodall, among others.

USUALLY, the older Sears units had "Schumaker" stamped on the alligator clips. Mine doesn't. My neighbors cheaper Sears does (it's also a 200 Series like mine).

Thanks again for all the assistance. I swear I looked up my model number on Sears parts site about a half a dozen times and got nowhere. Now its there. Maybe if I keep trying the parts will eventually become avail. again too. I still need to check with the local elec. shop they are usually pretty good. If no dice I'll try Pete at Schumacher. Have a good weekend.

Post up a picture of the switch and the hole it goes into. Maybe it will be similar enough to a standard switch.

I just replaced the heat sink board and diodes in my 20 yr. old 200 series Sears charger (re-badged Schumaker). Searching the net I was able to determine the Schumaker model # and the replacement part #. In the end Sears had the part at about 1/2 the price that Schumaker wanted. It arrived at my door in a couple of days and works perfectly.

You have to use the "Go Advanced" button below. Then you will find a" Manage Attachments" option to upload from your computer. It's not real obvious, so you have to try it out to get the hang of it.
