I have a # 315.17280 Sears Scroll-Saw that is now designated as 'Vintage.' Does anyone know what years it was being sold?
The online user manuals describe it as lifetime lubricated. As someone who is long past his 86th birthday, lifetime has a different meaning to me than perhaps the manual writer. The saw runs, but it is filled with oily sawdust.
My wife would like to use it. At a minimum I think it should be opened up and dusted with compressed air. Better yet would be to disassemble it, clean it with solvent, and relubricate it.
I'm open to suggestions for an appropriate lubricant. Might the 250CS/22.5WT silicone oil I have at hand be appropriate.
