Hi,

We are considering the garage flooring where they install Polyaspartic Polyurea floor coatings. Can you share your good or bad experience with these ? Would you recommend these ? I live in San Jose, California.

Thank you,
Arishi.

There are many people who are pushing Polyaspartic Polyurea technology. The problem is that there are too many companies that don't have good formulations. The problem with giving you a direct answer is that your question is posed as if all Polyaspartic Polyurea formulations are all the same. I can tell you... there is an EXTREMELY WIDE variation in formulations and viable formulations. In other words, I would guess that about 10-20% of companies that are selling it have good formulations.

If your contractor is well trained and is using a good formulation from a reputable company then you are probably safe.

Then make sure whom ever you choose is experienced in this system and check his or her references. Go and see actual finished jobs. Take notice of any defects, such as ;

Can you see any patchwork? means patch work is shotty or their system is rolled on thin.

Are you able to see any trowel marks? Means their system is rolled on and not poured

Do you see any roller marks? means inexperienced or lazy

Do you see any pooling? again inexperienced or lazy

At the edge or their finish line, is it a clean line? not putting attention to detail

Do you see any staining on their asphalt or block? messy workers

If it's a "full broadcast" floor, can you see the base coat underneath? went cheap on the chips or just didnt broadcast well

Remember that every system is only as good as who installs it.

Good Luck!!
