I would rather have a burnable material the whole wall height where I could spot a fire and have a chance to put it out than to be concerned about a spark possibly going thru a hole in the pegboard and smoldering in the wall long after leaving the garage. I doubt anybody that welds and cleans up welds (grinding) can guarantee the "4 foot rule" when it comes to hot sparks. I know I can't.

Fireproof Curtains ??????????

I just finished having a pole barn built with 10' walls. They had a couple extra sheets of siding, and I bought a few more so now I have a 10'x10' corner 10' high in metal. The siding is pretty cheap, call around. I'd do the full height, I don't think I'd want pegboard in a welding area.

I am thinking about puting up metal in one corner of my garage maybe half way across the back wall and half way up the side wall. all the way to the ceiling. Welding is not as bad as a cutting torch If it is something That I am really going to have to weld hot and I know I am going to be throwing sparks everywhere Or cutting something I will do It outside. I have about 20- 3 foot x 12 foot panels of metal roofing that I got from work during an expansion and I am going to use it.

I weld and grind everyday in my shop. I have plywood walls. not a problem. yes, they will burn but you going have to hold a torch to it.

I have a friend that was welding on his race car in a friend of his garage and burnt down the garage there house and the neighbors house. I weld alot at work not like I use to but I still do enough to keep in practice. I don't think I will take any chances.

I'm in the process of sorting out a "welding corner" with floor to ceiling corrugated tin roofing.. The silver/galvanized looks cool, but reflections from Tig/Mig are a *****..... may have to paint it black... :(
