I also use the disposable ear plugs whenever welding around threaded holes, the ear plugs keep slag and spatter from going into the threaded hole and messing up the threads. Mike.
The caps and spouts off of gear lube bottles have many uses. You can plug holes, hoses ect. Keeps dirt out and fluids from leaking. They also fit qt. bottles of oil and transmission fluid.
Most used trick in my box is 3M weather strip adhesive. Temporarily glues fasteners to tools (or anything) to temporarily hold 'em while starting threads... or a nail to a hammer head so that you can hold your board and get the first one in with one hand.
