@Nutria how is it using these with the wheel? It looks odd to me. I have a Dake No. 1 with a lever which is nice to use.

The wheel, or a ships wheel, gives you a "lever" anywhere in the travel. Just like having a drill press with 3 spokes increase of 2. The only issue I ever run into is if the work gets in the way of the handle.

Lots of plates are available on eBay, Amazon, and who knows where.

I have a friend with a smaller press like this with a wheel, and the wheel gives you some more positioning options (think drill press). You wouldn't be applying much force with a no. 1 in any case. I have a Greenerd no. 1 with the usual lever, and I like the wheel better. I like the ratcheting lever on my no. 3 best of all, but that would not be necessary on a little press.

While that small press with the ships wheel is cool, not a lot of room under the ram, so not sure how useful it would be. Using it with the ships wheel should be fine, since it's made for light press jobs.

Milkovich, I missed your post, but if I had that Famco I would pop a hole in the platen with a hole saw, maybe 2". Won't weaken the press like a slot, and will allow you to broach with it

For $100 I would probably buy it just because it's so cute and a great conversation piece.
But it is light duty - 1/2 ton?. Likely won't press in/out ball joints or lug nut studs. Not a lot of room under the ram either. Buy it. It will be useful for some things and you can easily get your $ back out of it if/when you find a larger one.
PS, here is a similar one. I think ou'd be fool to pay their asking price but it's similar.

Unfortunately, I won't get a chance to deface it. I just bought a Greenerd no. 3 at lunch. I think I can sell the Famco for what I paid for the Greenerd or certainly recoup most of what I paid for the new one.

Yes they are available, eBay should have one that fits. Also, Depending how handy you are you can make your own too.
