Here is my contribution to the Crowntop thread. I don't usually grab these*, but it was a decent box at a decent price. MLW found it at an ES I couldn't go to, at 20 min til closing on the last day. Couple of OK tools inside, but has the dividers. Front flap is present, but don't see a pic of it on my phone. Bottom is rusty, the left more so than the right. Lightly textured finish, kind of a green brown. No key present. Burgundy or maroon felt will need some replacement when I get around to a full cleanup. Just vacuumed the **** off it, Simple Green spray down, and set it aside for later.

As found

Some of the goodies inside

I think these are Telecom tools.

Interestingly, it came with a pair of these. Not sure their intended function, but worked quite well at release the drawer slide latches

Here is the cleaned up box, minus the front flap (Think the color change between first and last is garage light v natural sunlight.

*Childhood trauma of trying to start a Crowntop hand crank lawnmower on hot summer days. Hated that thing
Here is mine found at a private San Jose estate sale in 2017. IMG_9925.jpegIMG_9928.jpegIMG_9923.jpeg
It was loaded but kind of a mess. IMG_9850.jpegIMG_9853.jpeg
It now holds my Craftsman =v= extras.

I know these have somewhat of a cult following, and don't come up very often.

I shot this ole forlorn Craftsman Crowntop Circular Saw on Photo Safari
Called by Craftsman, Electric Handsaw.... :ROFLMAO:

The same Seller had a cool C-man 1/4" D-handle drill, with a missing power switch and something else vintage C-man.....maybe a sander.....
Anyway he said, I'll give you a good deal!

I took off running......nooooooooo! :ROFLMAO:

Is this the style you ran backwards through plastic?
I can see how that might work well.

When I went looking for a [vintage craftsman circular saw blade plywood] in Google images, this saw came up in the results.
Another backwards blade?

I have three of that style 7-1/4" saw now. The first one was my first saw and was a gift from my grandfather. (When I was leaving Eastern Iowa, on my way to Western Washington in 1991). I liked it so much I bought another (for ten bux). The second one has the two-piece base, like the one in the photo above; which allows you to remove the part outside the blade to be able to get in closer (I suppose). The third one was a scrap-bin rescue, just because.

My grandpa's saw has an 11 amp motor and I've also seen them in 10 and 12 amp models.

I found this Crown paddle bit set yesterday. It looks like it sat with water in it for a while and the shafts of some of the bits are rusty. Fortunately, it included the 3/4” bit missing from my earlier set. IMG_0023.jpeg

Here is some photos of my Craftsman crown basic tool set. Some of the crown hex keys have =v= stamped on them. My crown punches have circle G stamped on them. All of my sockets have =v= stamped on them. Most of the tools have pointed A's on them in the Craftsman name except the punches and adjustable wrench. The ratchets are some of the first quick release ratchets that Sears sold. I like these old tools! Thanks for having other people at Garage Journal that share the same interest!
