There was a few inquiries recently about this point of sale board I made a few years back to display my plomb made craftsman circle u tools. Figured I would repost it and show it again.
I modeled it after my Proto tool panels and envisioned it just post war as Sears may have perhaps displayed their tools from 46-48 before the switch to mdf.

At first glance that reminded me of the revolving Proto rack that we had in the 1st hardware store I worked in. Further reading showed that's what you were going for. Nice work.

Scored this postwar set yesterday. Some of the sockets still have the boiled linseed oil on them! Nice unmarked plomb ratchet with the often missing pin handle. This set was sold post war and is in the catalog. Inside of the box has its black paint but the outside has almost none. I’m actually going to leave this set just the way it is! Not clean it up or do anything. The set has that oil/ grease smell to it and the patina is so cool!

Picked up this Parks/Craftsman planer a while back. Not a toy. I think it's over 300 lb. The repulsion induction motor is a serious hunk too.

Holy Smokes Tom99...thats a heck of a find. Not common at all. And it looks to be in nice shape!
Thanks. Actually it was a mess when I bought it. Here's a picture from the auction site. The stand was falling apart; that's a house jack holding up the top of it. No switch. Gearbox needed grease repacked. Blades about as sharp as a butter knife.

^ That one I just picked up the other day was said to be from 1945-1948, according to another member. Mine has the leather handle (although it's been replaced.)
I went to work on it with WD-40 and brass brush and Scotchbrite pad, but that black "box rot" stuff just isn't going to go away. It does look a bit better. Still wondering exactly how to proceed.
The original paint on mine is machine gray - the bottom of the tray was still in pretty good condition.

The ad only has one photo. I'm often amazed at how little effort some sellers put into presentation. I would like to see what's behind the side-box door. They say it has a light and an outlet, so the panel on top must be attached. I suppose that could be a hinged lid, but it's hard to tell what's going on under all that ****.

Okay, here's the actual text and a link to the listing.

"Old school craftsman lower box, has power and light, super cool if you like the old stuff. Thanks."

One nice thing about FB MP is the option of seeing everything the seller has up for sale. Another ad for "Tools" says it's a moving sale and there are better photos coming. I guess I shouldn't be so judgmental. Moving is hard.

This is the stack to the right of the one above.

I've recently bought this =V= series 1-1/8" 12pt 1/2" drive socket from a seller on eBay UK. It extends the top end of this set which has been in my family from new. The socket shows no signs of use or abuse. Unfortunately, the socket is chrome plated whereas the set is all cad plated. Also, although the new socket is only fractionally taller than the next largest socket (1-1/16"), the lid of the box will not fully close.

I've been looking for a matching ratchet and extensions for years , but no luck here in the UK so far.

I have this similar but probably longer box with what I believe to have Korean war era =v= tools that aren’t chrome plated. IMG_3764.jpegIMG_3763.jpegIMG_3762.jpeg

My set, found at a yard sale some years back, only goes to 1-1/16”. I never found a cad plated crossbar but mine has some 8 point sockets and extensions. The cad plated sets were probably made during the Korean War.

I bought a bunch of Craftsman 4220 push drills that are also marked with a F inside a circle indicating Millers Falls made them. They are similar in shape to the M-F model 100. First picture below shows ones I just bought with a cleaned and polished example on the right end. The next picture shows (L-R) the M-F 100, uncleaned, painted with a gray, polished, painted red. Figured nobody would get too upset with my repainting based on how they looked when received. Certainly not in good collector shape. Clear plastic has been replaced. I like the red best, followed by the polished. The original gray and my darker gray just look odd to me. Still have three in progress.

I just shared this FB MP listing for "Vintage Craftsmen Rollaway Toolbox" in the S-K thread after learning that the bottom box is a Red Tool Wagon and figured I'd post the Heritage box here while I'm at it. It appears to be an early one.

I chased an old bandsaw today and won the race, after seeing it listed for free (near me) on FB marketplace. I replied within an hour of it being listed and expressed interest in the older one of the two and then sped that way once I heard back.

I took it off of the stand and removed the table in order to fit it inside my car. It'll be easier to wash up that way anyway.

I'll share more photos once I clean it up a bit.

Tom

EDIT - I should have put this in the Long-C Craftsman thread. I'll post the cleaned-up photos in that thread.
