Simple wiring question on Dimmer switch

I bought a Lutron dimmer switch for LED lights. I have looked at wiring diagram and step by step instructions. The hot (black wire) goes from power source to switch, the from switch to light.

None of the instructions indicate which side or connection the black wires go to. My guess is the line from the breaker box goes to the copper and the brass goes out to the light (or it really doesn't matter).

Thanks, I already did, so it doesn't matter? If so why the different color screws? Don't want to let the smoke out.

That dimmer can be wired as a single pole or a 3-way. For a single pole, you want to use the bottom screws on opposite sides. It does not matter what wire goes to each screw. Nothing wires to the top screw

Thank you Terry, just wanted to confirm--you are just constricting the pipe so less juice gets through, doesn't matter which way the juice is flowing. Greg
