I am running a gas line to my garage for a NG heater - 50,000 BTU
I have a regulator in my basement for furnace, dryer, etc. My understanding is that if I have enough capacity on that reg I can pipe from low pressure side straight to heater. Or I can pipe from high pressure side and put another reg in my garage before the heater.
Distance is an issue. 75 feet. I think I would have to pipe 3/4 inch black pipe from low pressure side.
Question: Would I be able to use 1/2 inch pipe from the high pressure side and install a reg in the garage?
Follow up... if not and I have to use 3/4 inch pipe... there is a small section of 1/2 pipe at the reg in my basement feeding furnace, etc. Would that act as a choke? if I stepped up to 3/4 inch? I feel like I should replace that with 3/4 too.
Any help or thoughts are greatly appreciated.
