I see them everywhere, but do not know much about their history and quality. Where do they rank? Higher-end like Snap-on, Mac and Matco, middle ground like maybe a craftsman, or are they less of a quality than craftsman???????

Who has SK tools? Like em'?

I love SK. The quality is right up there with snap on and all the other guys. In fact, I prefer Sk over many other brands. For example, they have features like multiple tooth engagement under big loads, so they can still have a 5 degree swing ratchet that is a strong as the bigger swing rathets that snap on have, which seem like ratcheting breaker bars at times. Also, Thier Finish is insanly nice, you wont want to use the tool.

Thier wrenches are very very thick handled, which makes them very nice to use. They are my favorite wrenches. I have never broken an SK tools ever, I have broken snap on and a craftsman before.

The quality exceeds snap on in some areas. For example, my SK 2 ft half in breaker bar has a shaft that is alot thicher than snap ons. The handles on SK ratchets and dirve tools are Big, so they are very comfortable to use.

I highly recommend them. If you go on their site, you will see that thier prices are similar to snap on, but the difference between them and snap on, is that Sk can be bought online making them very easy to buy, unlike snap on or Matco where youd think they dont want people to buy thier tools.

All SK stuff is made in usa, and if it is not, its made in france with Facom tools, which is thier parent company. Facom is the european snap on, and SK is thier USA made child.

www.thetoolwarehouse.net has very very good sk prices, I got a 300 set of impacts from them for 140.

I second what Jim (kartracer) says about SK Facom. I love my Facom stuff, esp my pliers. I have had to warranty an item before, and I simply sent it back to their Chicago office. They sent me a new one in the mail, no questions asked. Sure, it took longer than walking into a Sears, but it was painless. Oh, and if you would like to see (and hold) some of the SK stuff, Sears does stock a limited number of SK Facom tools.

Same Ed from Mark KW eh?

There is a difference between Sk facom and Facom. Most, if not all, Sk is made in Usa, alot of Facom stuff is made in Europe. You will see alot of european race teams using facom tools along with other foreign brands like Hazet. Facoms will tend to be alot more expensive that SK, and totaly engineered for comfort on top of SKs quality. Both are good brands, but Facom tools are hard to come by in the US. The only place I know of that sells some, but not the full line, Is Griots.

Comfort... Facom Screw drivers are awesome! Talk about a great design. I am working on building my entire collection of Mechanics tools around the Facom brand.

As of 3 weeks ago, there is no more SK-Facom. SK is no longer owned by Facom and continues to shed any inventory that is not featured in their 2005 catalog.

I probably stock more Facom than anyone else in the US (over 1200 part numbers). Some of the sale items are listed at http://www.ultimategarage.com/fac616.html . Steve

Ultgar Do you sell the modular tool sets like Griot's? The sets that come on the trays? How does your prices compare? I am talking about the FK13MET
RIC 13 Metric Tool Sets $1,350.00

I had over 40 different modules in stock late last year and ran a few sales on these. The last one was back in Feb at http://www.ultimategarage.com/qs020205.html .

Some of the modules are great, others (like the F441 and F601) are not such a great deal....why buy open end wrenches when you already have combination wrenches and the 601 uses up a lot of space (and $200) . You can buy the 601 or 603 saw separately with a pack of spare blades for under $40.

Here are the items I liked when I was setting up my own garage...see http://www.ultimategarage.com/toolsb.html . Steve

Sk is about a quarter of the price of Snappy also and you dont have to be insulted by thier dealers. My auto parts store carries them and will deliver to my door with a big thanks a hour after I call them.

I have the SK roto head 3/8 drive ratchet and it is beyond a doubt my favorite ratchet to reach for always.
