SK Modular Tool Storage

Amazon had the SK modular storage components on sale during Prime Day and since I have no will power and a few gift cards and points, I broke down. Despite everything being well packed in thick cardboard and eggcrate, the middle unit is lopsided. It might have taken a fall before going into the shipping box. I called SK customer service thinking it was a factory defect. SK customer service is now fully digital, no peeps to speak with. However, SK did respond within 24 hours via email, stating that since I didn't order from SK to contact Amazon for a replacement. Amazon is only offering a refund, not a replacement. I would rather have a replacement.
The unit itself isn't bad. I know that's not a glowing recommendation but, I have to return the middle section. I like the color scheme. Drawers are soft close type. each unit locks and all three are keyed alike. The base rolls easily over tiled floor. I think it's pricy for what you get even on sale but, it was the design I wanted. Oh well, can't win em all.

Interesting. I’ve got the Klein system but there now in the process of releasing the same **** with drawers which I’ve decided I’d like better. I wouldn’t mind checking that out some day if you’re up for it.

They don't These are mostly metal. I was expecting the packing material and the boxes to smell but, nada, zip, nothing.

Amazon is around 200 per. So retail on that is around $600.

That second one is wildly out if square. I'm surprised the drawers still open. Does your shop have a press with a deep enough throw to try and push it back square?

If those were reasonably loaded with tools, could you break it down to move it and restack (on a regular basis) or would you say they would be too heavy?

IMO, SK should have done more to help with this issue. That’s quite disappointing. Also surprised Amazon wouldnt replace it. Maybe due to the special pricing.

Downsized. Don't have a press at all anymore.

A single empty unit is approximately 30 pounds. I think it would be real easy to overload these. If you were disciplined and didn't overload it, I think you break it down and restack depending on how good of shape you're in.

On a side note, Toolguyd had a segment today saying Home Depot was selling the SK modular boxes online now.

I also conclude you should buy another one and return the defective one if Amazon or great star won’t remedy the issue satisfactorily. You could also try contacting Great star directly if you don’t feel like that is the way you want to go?

But how do you like them? Looks like they are targeting the Mobile mechanic demographic.

I think an open top tote for consumables and a box with a stainless steel split slide top that has storage in the sliding leaves and under the leaves with one medium drawer would be so awesome.

I also hear they are all keyed alike? Can you switch the cam cylinders out so you can reduce the amount of keys you need and get them keyed to your liking? This may be a really ****** oversight if so.
