A key that you make to put into a drill to raise and lower jack quicker.

Mine is a cheap 3/8 extension attached to a 3/8 adaptor socket adaptor. You can use in drill or 1/4 hex driven tool.

You can loosen the lockdown raise and lower it as needed. If I need more space that I just remove jack and reset the table and lock it down. Of course if have a hand crank to raise and lower DP table that's great but if don't this is easy and cheap way to accomplish a feature that doesn't usually come on smaller DP.

My floor standing drill press didn't come with a table lift, and I explored using a trailer screw jack but ultimately made a motorized version.

Barring any physical ailments, I don't see any benefits to this setup. I know some people on here complain and complain if a drill press doesn't have a table crank, but on something this small. Really, is this needed? :dunno:

Zk, I had a factory crank setup on my original Taiwan DP and I used it all the time.

First in made it much faster to setup for setting the height.

Second, when I brought my mill vise home adn set it up on the table as a DP vise, NO ONE was going to easily readjust the table height without the crank. I had to temporally retire the Mil vise when I upgraded to the Rockwell, which did not have the table crank.

The "new" Canedy Otto has a table crank, but of course, that table weighs upwards of 50 lbs (not counting the 1" plate the original owners added to the table to protect it, another 50 lbs!) so it never was in that class.

I see your point, but as many times as I have had to adjust my table for height with the parts on it, I like the OP's addition. Simple and easy to accommodate.

OP, my only caution is to make sure the column is lubricated, so you don't snap the table or bracket.

Thanks outlawmws. I do from time to time clean off gunk and lube it up. I know there are tons of DPs that don't have cranks or cranks broke. Its not perfect but I agree its simple and easily accommodate to most units.
