Unless I'm misunderstanding something, those are the pliers you’re asking about.

These arent for cutting metal.

yeah, like you, I’m not really understanding OPs question so I posted the only other cutters made for flush cutting zip ties.

If it’s not one of those 2 choices I’m not sure what he wants.

They are now discontinued, but E710BCG if you can find them were the best ones they ever had. 786CF is the part number for their new ones.

EPC160 are terrible IMO.

Snap-on E710BCG cutters are actually rebranded Swanstrom 710's. I don't think Swanstrom makes that particular model anymore, but they do come up for sale NOS on Ebay occasionally.

that is what i thought as well but the snap on dealer said they were not designed for cutting wire long term
I dont normally recommend HF but Icon 57683 might be worth considering here.
They are $35 and have a lifetime warranty.
With the 786CF clearly engraved stating for soft wire, it seems your SO reps verbal disclaimer might be indicating he walks a fine line of abuse vs. warranty claims with these type pliers, so thats understandable.

i did see the swanstroms occasionally, but without a warranty I’m not spending the money on them. The tips on these are easy to break. I’ve been buying up every nos pair of e710bcg’s on eBay for the last 5 years, I’m stocked for life. When I break the tips, my snapon guy replaces them with the new 786cf’s. I think I have about 20 pairs of the 710’s, and 10 of the 786 at this point.

not a fan of the 786 for the fact they don’t have a spring loaded handle like the 710’s. When I run out of 710’s I’ll modify the 786’s to my liking by somehow adding a spring.

Why do you think the EPC160 are terrible? I cant praise them enough

They are meant for cutting plastic only. And the few pairs I used, the jaws weren’t the cleanest in terms of lining up. I do a lot of wiring, if I can’t flush cut copper wire and zip ties with the pliers I have no use for them.

:dunno: The pair I have and my coworkers have line up great. And for cutting plastic only, that is something I will live with so I don't scrape my forearms and hands on sharp cut off zip ties
