Hello, I just bought a Snap-On Solus and want to get the newest software installed. Right now It will only go up to 2003. Can I find someone with the update software and have them do it, or do I have to buy the software from SO?

I would also like to see every ones opinion with this scanner, if you have used it before and how it compares to the others. All I really work on is light duty diesel trucks cummins, powerstroke, and duramax.

Thanks, Bodie

I have the solus pro. The update is going to cost you 1200 because you are so far behind. A new update is about to be released. I have several different scanners and really like the solus. I use a otc genisis from time to time and dont care for it. For diesel engines you cant beat the factory tooling. I also have an ids (ford) and tech2 (gm) I prefere them when working with diesels. I dont work on to many cummins(dodge) engines
so I do use the solus on them and it gets me by. On heavy trucks I use Cummins insite.
Only way to go. Snap on is the only one that can update your scanner. If you work on a lot of duramax engines you really need to get a tech 2.

My local SO dealer quoted me $9xx for the update. Is there a forum or something where I can learn more about the Solus? This is my first scanner, so I dont know a whole lot about them.

Thanks for the info.

I use a Solus Pro at work and love it... Very very fast compared to my last scanner. OTC Genesis that was awkward and clumsy to use.

We just had ours updated to the lastest flash, just over 1000$ CDN. The memory card also had to be upgraded. If you are working on mainly GMs then the TechII is really handy. Just not the one with the fancy LCD screen because it burns out fast.

You are pretty much going to have your SO dealer update it.Thats where SO has you by the nuts when you purchase their scan tools.
