Snap-On YA700 Rebuild Time!

Picked up two of these beauties today for a good price. Handles are included, they just aren't in the picture.

We've got some chipped wheels and missing small pieces (e-clips, etc.) but for the most part everything is there.

It's rebuild time and I have never done this before. Paging HiBall ...

Looks Good..., Take the little plastic vents off and put them in a safe place. They Break Easily and are about $10 bucks each to replace them, The Replacement ones i sell are Now Metal... Looks like someone might have been into the Blue/Green one.. The Vent is a bit off centered. Pretty Straight Forward, Remove the 4 bolts near the rear, Loosen the Center Pivot Nut enough to split the frame and allow the units to come out. If i can be of service for a Rebuild kit/Parts, Done Hesitate to Ask.

Nope.. I believe its only 1 Year, I used to do all the Warranty work for the Local Truck guys, Well let me Clarify... There was very little warranty work done. It was mainly Rebuild work for the shops with the occasional Warrany fix for my Local guy.

you don't need to remove it. Remove the 4 large side bolts that bolt into the base of the jack, loosen the main pivot nuts on the side and the jack will come out of the bottom of the frame.

Thanks, and I already got the jack out of the frame, I was just wondering in case I wanted to disassemble any further for cleaning etc.

I know this thread is two years old but hoping I might get some info about my YA 700 ... The handle doesn't lift the jack until its 3/4 of the way down, it holds a 150 pound load up for 24 + hours. Any ideas what needs to be done to make the jack work right? Thanks in advance

Oil Level? Weak Pump seals? The Walker designed jacks have a angled Pump piston so the jack can get a full upstroke while under the cars, 3/4" of travel is excessive though.

I am needing some help with repairing my YA 700 Snap On Jack. It will jack up just fine (without weight on it) but leaks off without releasing the release valve. I ordered a seal kit and replaced every item in the kit with no change. I have not replaced the actual release valve (cone shaped part under the release u-joint). I checked every opening with a soap bottle while forcing it down and see no signs of leaking off externally. Any ideas that i can try would be appreciated. If not, do you rebuild these cylinders or can you point me in the direction of someone who can ? I also sent you a PM with my contact info. Thanks again.

Did you venture into the overload? A improperly assembled release cone could cause a similar issue..

Btw.. I'm getting all your PM's, there is a option in your settings to allow you to see "Sent" Messages.

Yeah, I finally found that in settings. Sorry! Yes I did get into the overload. I cleaned everything with brake cleaner, replaced the ball bearings, and re-assembled. As far as the release cone(hopefully you mean the one under the u-joint at the bottom of the handle) all I saw was the one cone shaped piece. The only way I see it could be improperly installed is upside down, I assume? Am I missing something there? Could the cone be worn and fluid leaking by it even though it is tight ? Assuming you re-tightened the overload back to the original setting? The actual Cone can actually be installed sideways/upside down if caution isn't used when installing it. IMO your description sounds fairly like a fairly substantial leak versus just a leaking release seat. I would re-examine your overload to make sure the ball is centered on the seat, and the cup/spring is positioned correctly in the valve and what the current setting is. If you elevate the rear of the jack you can move the oil away from valve so you can see what's going on, I also use a dab of bearing grease to keep the upper seat positioned against the spring when dropping it in the hole.

OK. I'll open it up and take a look. As far as the original overload settings, I counted the turns when removing and installed to the same amount of turns. I also tried to tighten it more to add more pressure on the spring. Didn't notice a change either way. Bought a cheap "junk" jack the other day so I'd have something to use, but I'm not giving up on this one ! Thanks

Bump for an old thread, I'm still using the green YA200 to this day, it's solid as a rock! Best as I can tell the 3-ton Hein Werner is its equivalent; the 2-ton version of that jack (which I also own) doesn't go quite as high and doesn't quite have the same "pass it down to my son when I'm gone" vibe to it.

If I ever find another one that is in half-decent shape I'll definitely pick it up.

Hats off to everyone still using an old friend in the garage every time they need to lift a vehicle.
