How long have the Snap On 80 tooth ratchets been out and when are they due for an updated version. I have some older versions and was thinking of updating. Hate to do it and have the newest and greatest version come out right after! LOL

Yeah about 5 to 6 years. The only update has been the cover screws being changed which was the major fault with the design. Older flex heads can be updated to the newer style. As for anything eles, if you look at the old 36, 95% of changes made over the years was just appearance. Some will say newer 36 tooths are stronger then 20 year old modles, but it is more to get guys to buy ratchets every 4 to 5 years. The only reson to maybe hold off is SO is just releasing 80 quick release versons, first time I have ever seen those with comfort grip. Does this mean flex head modles of those are coming, I don't know. So if quick release ratchets excite you, maybe hold off, but otherwise, just get some.

being that dual 80 design is not all that old, they might stretch out the time before they go forth with a 120 tooth or something like that.

My USA stamped dual 80 has a date code of 2007 and I also have a FX936 with a DC of 2007, so mid 2007 is when they probably when they came out

Thanks allot buddy.

This one has an O stamped next to the part number (At a quick glance I thought it was a copyright crest)

So what year is an O? And does anyone have a link to a Year date stamp data base?

Probably 2010.
