Soft face hammers missing the faces?

I picked up these three for $1 each, just because. Actually, I know better, because the last time I replaced rawhide faces, they were more than the hammer was worth.

They're similar, but slightly different designs. The larger one on the left is a MAC, center is a Blue Point and smaller on the right is a Stanley.

Any ideas as to where to buy the faces? Most later designs have a threaded stud on the face which screws into the hammer head. These have a solid stud on the head.

I can turn some plastic/lead/brass on the lathe and drill the center, but they must have been catalog items back when.

On the center one it looks like maybe a soft rubber or plastic would fit and catch on the hump. I'm thinking of other 2 you could mill something and press them on.

An inventory of my hammers shows a need for lead, plastic and hard rubber, so maybe I'll try turning up a few of those.

Jack, I'm certain the right and center ones, use those yellow plastic faces. Possibly all three. Stanley used to make them, and they do come up on Eprey quite a bit. (I bought some replacements there a few months ago, before they can't be had anymore...)

There are at least two sizes, possibly three.

You could also turn some out of Nylon or Delrin.

For the rubber faces maybe use one of those rubber moulding kits, available in different Shore No's. and a homemade mould/former.
(I never had much luck trying to turn rubber.)

last time I checked S-O still makes the rubber tips and not too pricey.

If it was me I would make faces from HDPE and turn those into metal shaping hammers.
In fact if you want sell them to me I will do that.

I have a rawhide hammer I got about 40 years ago. It needs new faces and the price just scares the devil out of me.

I have a few of those rawhide faced mallets, but I also have a bunch of rawhide faces I bought ages ago, probably at a Flea market, and I've used a couple to refresh one of them. (I had to "unwind" some to get it to fit...)

I too have a hammer like the OP that is missing the plastic faces. I am going follow the suggestion here and make a new faces from some Delrin rod that I have on hand. I am not familiar with working with Delrin, so how many thousandths undersize should I make the Delrin hole for a press fit on the hammer? Would I get a stronger fit if I heated the hammer up to between 250-300 degrees before the press fit? Thanks,
