At work, there is a Solar 2175 mig welder. It appears to have been worked hard for many years and not really taken care of much. When you weld, the the trigger is very sensitive (too much), but I think that may be from having a wrong spring in the Tweco handle. While welding, if you touch the work with the nozzle, it will arc and "stick" to your work. While this happens, it disrupts the weld cycle and makes it difficult to weld.
What causes the nozzle to arc when touched to the work piece?? Thanks in advance for any info.
