[Solved] Baldor Carbide Grinder Wheel Support Removal

Good Evening Everyone,

Long time viewer but first time poster. I managed to purchase a used Baldor Carbide Grinder but I am not sure how to remove the wheel support on the right side when facing the grinder. Does anyone know if I turn the nut clockwise or counter-clockwise to remove? I am having hard time finding documentation online. I have a red arrow pointing to the nut in question.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Left handed threads? Not sure which side is LH on mine. If the other side is RH, this one is LH

Thank you for the responses everyone. The video linked below is for a knock off Harbor Freight grinder and the gentleman at 8:01 says that both nuts are right handed threads as this grinder runs forward and reverse so it would make no sense to have reverse threading.

Could someone with a Baldor (or a knock off) please confirm for me as my nut is on rather right and I don't want to damage anything taking it off.

Thanks again for your time.

Mike

I've got multiple baldor grinders. I've never seen a left hand thread on the right side. From the photo, you've got a handy stop bar in place on the wheel backing plate, so I'd say grab a rachet/wrench and get after it! (counter-clockwise turning)

Thanks so much RMERR. You were right, the right side was counter clock wise. I managed to get the wheel backing off.

Much appreciate all the help everyone.

Is there a feature to mark this thread as complete?

No need to mark as complete. We like to let things die slowly around here. Then wake them up from the dead years later!

You could put Solved in front of the title, and add interesting comments about how both sides are right-handed threads. Someone else will still read your first post and reply with "you sure they're not left-handed" without reading the rest of the thread so we all get a good chuckle.
