An old ex-USAF mechanic I know over there has a big old 'shop' stuffed full of automotive gems/junk. Here's some pics I took last time I was over there a couple of years back. It's not much of a garage, just a big old concrete hulk, but it is pretty big, and two stories too. Everywhere you look he has old auto parts, engines, trannys, heads, headers, all sorts.

I lived and worked at Clark Air Base for two years. Left when the volcano went off. Never saw or heard about such a place. Intresting. Does he live in Angles?

I remember being in that garage, the green rail dragster I saw before too! At the time I belive the dragster had a big block chevy engine in it. The 392 Hemi was on an engine stand for a long time.

I was stationed at the P.I. with the Air Force from 1983 to 1987. It was great going over to the guy's house to watch the NHRA drag races that he had somehow taped from the states. I wish I could remember the guy's name. he was also retired from the Air Force and had worked at Clark Air Base.
Very cool guy.

I worked on the Aggressor F-5 aircraft and later in QA. I had a 6.6 liter 1977 Trans Am and we would all meet at a place called Porock (spelling), maybe 10 miles from the air base and we'd drag race all day. This guy also had a jeep with a 302 or 351 in it and a very nice camaro I belive. Lots of great memories there. It was really nice to have that guy and his huge shop in such a remote part of the world. Had a crew of locals that worked for him and could soup up your car for you on the cheap. Thanks for posting the pics!

Cheers,

Wild Bill

I never got there until the year after the volcano had done its bit, and a lot of the bars were wrecked or closed down by then. In fact, a lot of Angeles was closed down. Still, it was a hell of a lot of fun. So much so that I stayed there for nearly ten years

I just wish I'd gone there a couple of years earlier instead of playing around in Thailand. :dunno:
