Well, I'm not sure where to begin with that photo--the obvious: Speeders, the unusual: hammers stacked 3 deep, or the downright what-the-: How long and what size drive is that ratchet?!

i have 3 in 1/2" every now and then i break one out. i was using one yesterday on a transmission, didnt want to ruin any threads in it. i thought man this thing is much nicer than the other 2. it has 2 rollerhandles on it. couldnt see a name on it anywhere so i cleaned it up with a scotchbrite and wd40, turned out to be a snap on.

Arise, oh speeder thread!
Having been intrigued by speeders for years and never owning one, I popped for a 3/8 speeder in a "surprise me" add on order from Rickster and he sent an older Craftsman with the "door knob" end. I finally used it this weekend on timing chain cover bolts and I loved it.
I would never use any kind of impact driver on engine work, I occasionally use an air ratchet, but the speeder is now my go to for the feel it imparts while using it.

I love using speeders for engine work. Nothing beats it, when you have the space to use it anyway.

I have one of the C-man 3/8 and 1/2" speeders with the knob. Haven't used them in a while. I also have a Plomb in 3/8. Also a 1/2" Mossburg speeder and a 1/2 Blackhawk Tee shaped speeder.
Bought a 3/8 Snap on speeder last Friday at the pawn shop for around $2. It is from the late sixties, early seventies. I 've started to collect them again. I can't think of how many I gave away years ago as I purchased air tools.

I still use them occasionally. When you have a bunch of smaller bolts you want to feel so as not to over tighten, like valve covers and oil pans and such. But pretty much my IR LIon ratchet and impact have taken over for bolt removals.

I just got one from the flea market. I think I paid $25 but it's Snap-on and it's super long like 4 feet long 3/8". They don't make it anymore and I have no idea what it was originally used for but I like it.

I will break out my speeders when assembling engines, trannies, etc. I like to be able to feel the bolts as I run them in for binding or roughness, and few methods beat a speeder for that. Besides, it's an almost therapeutic activity. No noise, very tactile, and you really feel you are putting all your energy into the assembly effort.

i also use a speeder to disassemble and to assemble engines. i also like being abler to feel the bolts as i run them down. i have a couple of speeders in each size, but my favorite is an old 1/2 inch drive unknown brand that has a breaker bar head.

I thought about picking up a pawn shop one in case I somehow got my AK night hand back (she was a fan) but i'm not so I'll just continue using my 10.8v Hitachi impact. Heck other than one time when I needed to chase some long threads I don't think I have used one since we got an air compressor.
