So I keep dreaming about learning to weld. There are several Chinese MIG (120v/240V, flux/gas) >200A well under $500. Most offer an optional spool gun for around $100. These spool guns all say they are good for 150A.
So if the welder is capable of 250A, does the gun limit the current ? Or if you go max current (aluminum requires a lot of power), do you risk destroying the gun ? Or, is it up to you to limit the duty cycle ?
