what's the correct way to use the squeege to apply epoxy? i rolled the first coat, but the second coat i'm considering using a squeegy if it's more even.
would the foam squeege work or do i need a rubber type?

You would typically use a split foam rubber squeegee(sp). You should make sure that the manufacturer recommends that type of application method. Most epoxies that can be squuegeed are a 100% solids, high build material. They are thick enough to me "moved" by the squeegee. If it is thinner than this, a roller might be your best applicator.

After mixing the recommended amount of epoxy, pour out puddles and use the squeegee to push the material over the floor. When I have installed these types of products, I usually have a two man team. One to mix the product and pour it out, one to squeegee it out. Then the mixer can come in and "back-roll" the product with a standard roller to make sure it has uniform coverage. Be mindful of the pot life of the product you are using.

The product I was referring to is 100% solids, self leving epoxy. It is first squeeged out. "Back rolling" is done in one direction to help the epoxy flow and level out, providing a uniform appearance. Do not over roll these products, as it may introduce air into the coating, which you do not want. You may need to wear "spikes" (golf shoes w/ spikes)while applying a coating like this. This way you will be able to walk on the coating without harming it- Be careful- slippery when wet.
