Steel door with window paint?

So I have steel doors with windows. The window frames are plastic. Everything expands at a different rate when hot or cold. I need to repaint all the door on my house after only 7 years because the paint is tearing along the junction from the plastic to the steel. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to avoid this? A couple of the doors face South, and are painted a really dark brown. I will be keeping the color, and I now that doesn't help the thermal expansion, but other than the transition, they have held up pretty well. Do I need to paint the door and the frame separately? And any suggestions on how to remove the paint from the plastic so I can basically start again? I had a contractor come take a look, but he wanted over $500 per door to refinish them.
