subpanel questions

I am running a sub panel in my garage and I know code is different everywhere but I live in ontario canada and I was wondering two things,

1- Does the sub panel need to be a certain height of of the ground, and
2- Does the sub panel need to have it's own on/off switch/breaker in the panel itself or is it ok to just have the breaker for it in the main panel........

CEC states that no breaker shall be more than 1.7m above floor level,but sometimes common sense and practicality may vary that number slightly,try to stick to it.There is no requirement for a main breaker or disconnect in this case(defined as a branch circuit),but is a good idea for convenience and you never know,safety as well.However the ESA in Ontario does have its own set of rules supplementing the CEC,so as always,your local rules may vary...
