switched plugs to ceiling lights advice.....

I am sure this has been asked but I am having trouble finding some good information on this so I am hoping you guys can help me out.

I have a ton of those wall switches that go to a switched outlet in the house and garage. I am hoping to convert these to ceiling lights. Is there a simple way to do this or should I just hire an electrician?

Simple meaning is this a possible DIY project or is it quite complex and needs an expert. I am pretty handy and can get most jobs done.

Yah a electrican is a good idea..
The outlet is powered through/ after the switch.
So you would have to run a wire to the outlet, before it gets to the switch, power the switch and then run a power feed to the ceiling. Simple if the basement and attic are easy to get to, if not its going to be more money, and may have to open walls up. If you dont want to have a switch outlet and have a ceiling light..
Or just run a wire from the outlet, to the ceiling box/light..this way your outlet will still be powered only if the light is on...
Of coarse either way depends on how many lights ect.

The ceilings are vaults so there is a ton of room in the attic. We are out here in California so no basements!

Id say very do-able but hire an electrician..
It may save you in more repairs like of walls and paint..by having a experianced person snaking wires.
