Looking for a set of 3/8" swivel impact sockets for home but I don't know if I want to buy the Harbor Freight sockets due to how cheap they are. I'm afraid they won't hold up well. So does anyone know of a good set that isn't like 300 - 400 off a tool truck??

Grey and Sunex are good quality Taiwanese products -- lifetime warranty and they are professional quality. I own both, and also have a set of HF 3/8" drive impact swivels in my road box. They look/feel exactly like the Sunex line. We beat the heck out of our road box tools (much of which is cheap HF stuff). The wrenches, sockets and screwdrivers have held up great.

For hobby work, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Taiwan HF swivels. They're guaranteed and HF will happily replace them if they break. We've never been able to break one -- often running a 1/2" impact with a 3/8" drive swivel socket.

Or buy Snap-On on eBay for 50%.
I just got set of 1/4 Snap-On swivel sockets for the price of Craftsman. When you hold those sockets close to each other - difference seen right there..

I would chance the HF sockets on impacts. I have used several such sets through the years with great results, perfect for home use. As was already suggested I too would say look at the Sunex line. I have a couple of their sets, imports but great prices and good looking products too!

Am I the only one who never see Snap-On tools (other than boxes) sell for 50% MSRP on Ebay? :headscrat I tried looking for for a couple of months and the final selling prices made it hardly worth buying used vs. new after factoring in the extortionist shipping costs... After awhile, the meager savings potential just isn't worth my time.

I have noticed swivel/universal joint sockets go for a lot of money in general. I bought my well-used SO 3/8 dr SAE deep (seems only SO makes a deep version) swivels for $100 used at a swap meet. My friends thought I was nuts... but then I told them they sell for over $300 new...

Even the Craftsman universal joint sockets aren't cheap...

HF it is then. Now I'm all psyched up to go pick em up lol. Those SK though are pretty tempting. I also looking at Ingersol Rand's swivels and those look alright. In the future I'm going to have to buy some of them for work probably as well but I'll probably fork out some cash for work.

I bought a set of HF swivel impact sockets about 15 years ago. They mostly gather dust, but three of them have been used a number of times.
They work, they handle abuse and they don't cost very much.
If you used them every day, buy the best ones, but for monthly use the cheap ones work fine.
You could buy about ten sets of the HF for one set of SO.

This is ones I got:

I needed 10 and 12mm only, but after trying few times on individual sockets (they went for $30ea total) I decided to get kit. It has 15mm which is almost junk and 14mm that I'm sure never will be used. But 8/10/12/13 is all good sizes

Go with the HF swivel sockets! I bought a set of metric 1/2 drive swivel impact sockets about a year ago for $28 dollars and have been using them everyday at work. They have held up great and showing little signs of wear inside the socket! For the money you can't beat them and I could be wrong but they look just like the Genius swivel sockets that the S-K tool guy carries on his truck!

Just bought a set of the 1/2" swivel sockets from HF 13mm-21mm, matco price for this set is somewhere in the range of $500. I am a GM technician ill keep everyone posted how they work. $26 to $500, im willing to try the $26, the only problem I see with this set is they come dry out the box, I think with regular oiling they may last, the medal compared to my matco 3/8 seems comparable.

Interesting, would be nice to fill my void at my 1/2 inch wobble set. I may have to get hf or the grey pneumatic wobbles. Right now my 1/2 gp deep impact sockets are working great.

I have a few SK impact swivel sockets and I'm satisfied with them. I filled in a few sizes I couldn't find used. Shipping costs so much I try to group purchases.

I've only had SO, so I can't comment, but that looks like a pretty good price, even USA made. Now I do know the Matco guys will sell you grey pneumatic and warranty them, but I don't know how good they are.

I sell about 25% GP to 75% Matco. When compaired I might warranty 1 GP to every 50 Matco. I'm sure it's due to the fact that there are MANY MORE Matco impact sockets out there, but, I have no issues telling a customer that they are good tools.

I wish my matco guy would start carrying gp, I will have to ask him about them this week.
