The blower motor bearings on my 15 yr old Takagi T-KJr tankless water heater that is my shop's heat source are really noisy. I have the new blower unit here and just now I looked inside the unit to get an idea of what I am up against to swap in the new blower. Two of the four small bolts are facing the back of the heater case with ~1/2" maybe between them and the back of the heater. In short, it looks like I will need to disassemble virtually everything and remove the entire heat exchanger just to get to the blower motor mounting screws.
Has anyone ever worked on these before that can tell me if I'm thinking about this correctly?
