Ard, thanks for getting back to me on this. My ventilation situation is a bit nonstandard I'm guessing..
A little background:
I started with an 1100 sqft unfinished detached garage here in El Paso. Gables on the east and west walls. Had refrigerated air installed. Had the walls and ceiling sprayed with open cell foam. This is where the trouble began. 7 weeks out and the foam still leaves the garage with sweet chemical smell that's unacceptable, particularly when it's hot. The roof is metal, the walls are mainly stone so I'm guessing the ceiling foam is the primary culprit for the off gassing and smell production in the building.
In anycase, I've drywalled in the walls and am about to add drywall to the bottom of the trusses in an attempt to isolate the foam gasses as much as possible to that space created within the truss body and above the ceiling drywalling.
My plan is to add one or two smaller thru wall vent fans on the west gable that will run continuously at low speed. I'd then add a vent or two to the east wall gable to promote airflow across the spray foamed ceiling and out the vent fans on the west wall. Does this make sense?
My issues are that
1. I'm unsure what brand of fan is engineered to be running fairly constantly the way I intend. Tamarack seems to be good but the options are limitless on Amazon.
2. I need to be able to slow the fans down while I'm cooling the garage via AC, otherwise I'll just be venting expensive, cool air instead of the pungent air within the crawl (there likely won't be a perfect seal between the crawl and the main of the garage.)
3. I've got no Idea what sort of passive vent I should use on the east gable that would allow air flow IN to the garage's crawl space but disallow dust and bugs etc from getting in.
Any and all thoughts/advice appreciated.
