TG-100 collets--are they useful compared to others?

I found a set of TG100 collets at a local online auction and I'm wondering if they would be useful in my lathe or milling machine. There are other items in the auction lot that I want, but if TG100 collets would be worth getting, that can make a difference in how high I bid. From what I find on the internet in a quick search, it doesn't sound as if TG100 collets would be better than ER collets for my use as a hobbyist.

-The TG collets have greater holding power but it takes less ER collets to cover a given range in sizes. If you're doing heavy cuts I can see the advantage of extra grip, if not then it seems like potential you won't use. If you're a hobbyist then taking heavier cuts (less time) doesn't seem critical. I'm retired now, no production work, so I don't mind taking a lesser DOC or an extra pass. This is JMO and YMMV
