Can anyone tell me about this Wissota grinder. I’m considering buying it, but it looks to be factory restored? What does that serial number mean?image.png

After a little more digging, I’m thinking this was just restored by a Wissota collector/fan. I missed it at first, but even in this thread there is a member that made his own tags for restoration.

Thinking about buying this grinder at an estate sale. I believe they're going to ask 50 dollars for it. It does start super smooth and runs very quietly. Can anyone identify it as a Wissota ? The tag is painted over. Thanks.

Whatever it is, it's likely better then the cheap junk you can buy today

Ask if they have the missing tool rests? Likely reply will be "no" or "I don't know", use that as a bargaining chip, offer $35 or $40.

I recently picked up this 1/3hp Wissota E33, serial W-5-75, for $40. Very clean, other than the bottom cover. I'll de-rust that and paint, then get some new wheels. The inside is clean, wires and terminations look good. Then I need to find some good shields. I have one of the shield supports, and a broken shield frame (plastic) for reference.

I got this 1979 E-6 for $30 at a small local auction. It came with a pedestal, the original owner's guide, and 2 Wissota brand grinding wheels that I guess are probably the original ones it came with, plus some buffing and wire wheels. The previous owner had removed 1 guard. I arrived first thing to pick up and found it on a shelf in the garage (minus the plexiglass part), so I took it. :)

+1 on the skate sharpener, bought at the Wissota Store with factory training, they were all extremely nice including the owner. The used machines sell for slightly less then a new one, even 20-30 year old models, so it's a no-brainer to go new. The Leeson Motor should last forever with normal care.

I was looking at where the original factory was, kind of a cool area of town with a 50's vibe. One of the big Honeywell Factories anchors the industrial park and lot's of similar buildings that once were home to well-known brands populate the area for several blocks around. On the western side the huge General Mills Complex still cranks out Betty Crocker and Pillsbury.

This old guy has a Wissota label. Anyone have any information on this one. I'm thinking it might be a good addition to my bench.

Looking at an E33 1/3 hp nearby in rough physical shape but it purrs. Missing tool rests and eye shields. How's the power on these? The amp draw on the tag would indicate either very efficient motors (run cap?) or fairly weak if inefficient.

Also, looking at a doAll that resembles these but may be a baldor. MOdel D3015

I've never seen that body style on a Wissota with the top handle. Wonder if it's one of their first models?
