My garage floor is nasty. Oil stains, spraypaint, house paint drips, everything. I want to work in there on hobby stuff, but it's to the point that even if I sweep it, I just can't bring myself to stand on it in sock feet.
An expensive floor treatment isn't in the cards, so I want to put down some kind of matts. But I want it to be something I can easily sweep clean of any metal chips, or small wire-lead resistors, tiny screws, etc.
A lot of mats I find are thick rubber, like stall mats, that doesn't seem very sweepable, and carpet is right out. I don't want cushy "back saving" ergo mats either, thin and hard will be just fine. What I need is some kind of mats that are smooth and thin, but also won't flip up and be a trip hazard. I'm half tempted to try some of those cheap sticky vinyl tiles, and I would if I weren't worried about what kind of sticky residue they would leave when I finally change them to something else.
