Thomas & Betts WT112M anyone have this model?

I typically use terminals with the hard nylon protector and won't to start using the heat shrink type of terminals. Will the WT112M work for my needs? I have the WT111M but cracks the nylon protector much of the time.

I prefer a ratcheting crimper for any terminal connections. Looks like the model you linked to has both the indent and the smooth clamper things.

I prefer the ratchet for critical items like low voltage data - love the platinum crimper. Puts' my $300+ AMP and GMP crimpers to shame.

However, for terminals, I like Manual more often than ratchet. For production, yes, ratchet is the way to go IF approached from a systems approach - manuf. tooling, manuf. terminals, etc.

I find that to a certain degree, the small nuansecnes between different terminals and the ratchetings, sometimes causes under or over ratcheting, which I have no control due to the *setpoint* of the ratchet.

I have the WT111M, and it seems to work for me, although I don't crimp a lot.

I use my ratcheting crimper for jobs whenever I can these days, but for down-and-dirty service work I've had those crimping pliers in my tool pouch for about 30 years. They've ever cracked an insulated terminal yet...

The ones with a round "port" to accept the connector are much better than the one pictured. I have made thousands of crimps without cracking the plastic style with a round connector hole.

I like these with the 2 different handle colors so I quickly know which side the crimp will be on. I just think Black up and the crimp is hidden.

This crimper is fine for insulated and non-insulated...just like the Klein 1005 and Channellock 909.

It is fine if a mashed appearance is acceptable. For a professional look the others are better. When I trim a panel or terminal strip I want it to look as if the installer was a pro.
