Liquid?

Stick?

Tape?

I started using the stick style awhile back after years of using the traditional liquid. While I don't have laboratory conditions to test under, it seems to me that the stick does not hold as well as the liquid did. (yes the fasteners were clean and dry)

What color of threadlocker do you use most?

blue if I ever want to have a hope in hell of getting whatever it is apart. Oh, on my motorcycles, I use LOTS of blue.

On the race car and the Jeep, seems about 90% of fasteners above 3/8" get red gel. Suspension, engine, that kind of stuff. For general assembly I use a fair amount of blue gel. If somebody else built it I drop some green on it. Keith

I never had a problem with red AFA disassembly. I will admit maybe my fasteners were not always "squeaky clean" before assembly. When they had to be, they were.

As I said on a similar thread, I like safety wire a lot.

I like the gels, sticks, and liquid in that order. I use both red and blue, sometimes green, and even purple a time or two. I also like to clean my parts with brake cleaner, then give them a nice spray with the activator/primer. Its expensive, but makes a big difference.

I also use the retaining compound every now and again.

red liquid is all i use on bolts (if needed)
most of what i need not to come loose, cant come loose,
if it does, it costs somebody money. it's not a problem heating up a bolt to relaese the loctite.

i try to use a locking nut of some type when i can.

Mostly blue, green for really small fasteners and red for the ones that would be considered semi-permanent and can take heat if needed for dis-assembly.
Loctite brand always.

Having delt with Loctite reps in the manufacturing field i know that the liquid is better, mostly because it set faster. But the stick form can very strong if you also use an activator which they also have in stick form. Just wipe threadlocker on on side of the fastener and the activator on the other and it will mix when assembled. By the way the antiseize and pipe sealent in sticks are also very handy.
