I finally decided to make an account after lurking for quite some time. I recently purchased my first home and my garage is the first renovation I'm doing.
My initial thought going in was that I was certain I wanted to do a DIY epoxy, but, after cleaning the floor and getting good lighting in I realize there's a ton of minor surface cracking (20 year old concrete) and oil staining.
Having the epoxy done professionally isn't in the cards right now for my budget. I would attempt a DIY solution if I knew tiles were not going to meet my expectations, but, tiles are very appealing right nowfor their ease of installation and big warranty. My only concern is light reflectivity as I do a fair amount of paint correction and mechanical work in my garage.
I have no qualms about cleaning the tiles often if I go with a light color like white or gray, but, I don't want to get the floor down and then realize it just doesn't reflect enough light. I have never personally seen any of the popular tile brands to have any sense of what they look like in person and I'm not sure a sample will provide much insight.
Can anyone provide any experiences they've had, and, whether they also were stuck deciding between epoxy and garage tiles and what outcome you may have had? I would rather get the grueling prep work done and know I'm going to end up being satisfied than spending a whole bunch of money and trying to resell the tiles because I'm disappointed.
