$400 seems to be the set in stone selling price on any CL city I'm willing to drive too. Very patiently waiting for one to pop up for around $200. I want one, but not enough to spend much more. I've seen a few AC/DC thunderbolts listed for $150, but they were all the top crank, I want a front crank if i buy a thunderbolt. Also there have been a few 250 dialarc that just sit on CL for $350.

Wow, awesome price. I'd clean it up and list it on GJ classifieds. Or even ebay it with local pickup only if no one buys it on GJ.

Tombstones are the old Idealarcs - MUCH better machines IMHO. Those AC/DC 225s new are ~$400 depending on the sale, used they're $50-150 depending on the auction, flea, etc. Craig's and eBay aren't reality in most cases, not worth comparing prices.

Auction fever sometimes occurs on ebay, though.
I put stuff on there thinking it'd go for X, and then it sells for 3X. And you can set a reserve price so it doesn't go for an amount that you'd just rather keep it.Also, on ebay you can click "sold auctions" to see items that actually sold. Unless you look at sold auctions, a lot of those auctions are just fairy tale prices set by the seller.
A young GM guy. He hasn't used it for a couple of years. Thinks it's from the 70's.

I want to learn to weld with it. Been watching CL for a while.
Just need a helmet and a circuit.

That is a good cheap way to learn to weld, no gas to buy , just rod. The DC side is a huge plus.

$150 tops. And it isn't a tombstone welder (Idealarc are).

I was second guessing it even as I called the guy. It had been on for 3 hours, and if not quickly taken, I thought it might not be a good deal, or maybe it had some problem.
That's why I started this thread, to get some quick feedback while I was driving over there.
And there were enough positive posts for me to go ahead and get it.

I have a tombstone that is at least 30 years old. this is what I learned to weld with. I use it all the time. you will really like using it. get a really good auto darkening helmet. makes things easier.

I paid $120 for an AC only box about two months ago, so that is a smoking deal. Never seen a AC/DC machine offered for sale around here for less than $300 or so.
