Is there a specialty tool to make removing cv axle retaining rings on cv axles easier? Meaning these things?

I am not sure if there is one. It’s been a while since I had to do this but I think I just used a pair of needle nose pliers to spread it and a screw driver to walk it out of the groove.

Same. I use those cheap pocket flat blade screw drivers that companies hand out and work it under the ring and push it around until it comes out. Don't over think it.

Curious why you want to take it off? Did the new one not come with the ring?

I've found that the blades of the Lisle pliers above sometimes are too wide to fit into the groove. If you use those pliers and want to reuse the ring, be cautious not to open it too wide for you'll stretch it and it will be difficult to reform after it's back on. Just my two cents. Others may have a different experience.

I use needle nose and screw drivers. You have to get under it often in 2 places and pry it up onto the top of the splines and then you can pull it off.
