If you buy house B, you're going to have a lot of work to do to it and your existing house. Sounds like a big commitment to me.
I've been in a similar situation. I moved about a year ago. The old house needed a lot of repairs that were much easier to do after we moved out. The new house didn't need much, but I went from a heated and insulated 24x40 garage, to a 30x37 uninsulated pole barn. The barn had to be put on the back burner while I fixed up the old house, I'm just now insulating the barn, and it's still a mess from moving in. I haven't organized much in there yet. It kinda drives me crazy, but the old house was the priority so we could get it up for sale. I've really had my hands full this year. It doesn't help much that I work a lot of overtime, really cuts down on the time I have at home. There have been many times this year that I thought I had bitten off too much.

There is a lot of work here, but most of it is the painting. We'll get enough done to move in - will be finishing that part today. There's probably about I have to run some video cables in the wall, pull a cable for the DSL line, add some tubing to the bath vents and we're ready to move furniture. There's about 1200 sq/ft of wall left to paint and 120' of baseboard to fetch and install. After that, we can do the doors, trim and stuff like other people - throw plastic over your stuff and try not to spill it on the carpet ;)

Moving the shop equip will be much worse than the house. Don't stop by to say Hi - you'll get put to work!
