Thinking about picking one up, and I really don't want to bring a trailer (even though I have access to one, the box is in the city).

Could 2 strong men load it on my truck w/ ramps? Should I take the drawers out to load it? How do they come out?

As long as the ramps are sturdy and not too steep, you should be OK. Worst case, you take out the drawers.

you need 4 guys to get it done safely. back up to a curb and then load one end at a time. that was the only way I could get one in my silverado.
it was empty and heavy.
but if you are lifting straight from the ground get a couple of guys to go with you.

It would depend on how high the back of your truck is. trying to roll a tool box up a pair of ramps into the back of a tall tail truck can get you killed. Be safe and take the trailer unless you have plenty of help and a lower bed pickup.

When I bought my KRL761 it was in a basement and had to come up through a bulkhead. It took three guys to get it up with some planks and rope and the drawers removed. To put it in the back of my fullsize pickup we put a packing blanket down on the ground and stood it on end. We backed the truck up to it and two of us were able to tip and lift it into the back of the truck then put the drawers back in. It came out by going down ramps. Wasnt bad all around but you definately have to be careful.

My truck is pretty high. The guy that is selling the box works in a shop so we can put it on the lift and back up to it I guess.

I have a hill next to my driveway I can drive up so the angle of the ramps won't be steep at all.

Just hire a flatbed tow truck driver during his "slack time". They've been known to move large boxes at affordable prices.

Most rental places have a super low trailer they use for scissor lifts. The deck of the trailer actually lowers flat to the ground to load. Then it lifts a couple inches for driving. Get home and lower the deck even to the ground and roll the box out. They don't charge much at all, 50-100 bucks depending on where you are. The trailers aren't that long 10-12 ft. I think.

Sorry guys, not renting a trailer or or paying a flatbed to haul it. I'm a DIY kinda guy ;)

Seriously, I would consider renting a trailer. Check the rental places out side of uhaul, etc... There is a place here in town that rents a 10k tilt bed for like $20 bucks a day. I use them all the time for things that cant move easily. On the flip side, I have loaded KRA4107's in the back of trucks. Its a 40' roller cab. me and another dude lifted it empty. If there are any tools in it, fughetaboutit....
If you dont have any good way to get the tool box out, i.e. you and 2 other dudes, then get the trailer....

For others reading this I rented a U-HAUL Motorcycle trailer (low to ground with built in ramp).

Well, I had originally posted this before I talked to the seller. He works in a shop, as I then posted, and we can hoist it up w/ one of the lifts there. Some guys have also said they have done it w/o a trailer, and that's all I wanted to hear.

Edit: I have access to a free (open deck car hauler) trailer, so I was asking about that. That's why I said I wasn't going to rent (pay to use) a trailer.

I've moved toolboxes in the back of trucks and picked them up loaded(single bay), loaded big blocks chevy blocks in the back of trucks by hand, been upside down at 160mph, thrown over the handlebars of motorcycles at 80mph,picked up 55 gal drums of oil into the back of pick-ups and countless other stupid ****. My ******* has to get around in a power wheelchair now. I can still stand but all that dumb **** haunts me everyday. Spend your money now on rent or later on a orthopedic doctor later. Life gets rough living off pain killers and losing your mobility. Do the smart thing and rent the trailer.

I moved my 2 bay Matco box in the back of a 1/2 ton pickup. I had a come-along anchored to the front of the bed and winched it up the ramps. I used the come-along again going down the ramps. It worked fine but had I had access to a trailer with good tie down points I would have much rather gone that way.

Make sure the wood is in good shape if it has a wooden deck. I have seen casters break through the wood before.

When I bought my Matco(64") box, the seller had back problems, so I loaded and unloaded all myself. $15 Uhaul trailer is awesome.

`I had my Mac triple bank hauled by a rollback..gave the driver a 30 pack... you can`t beat that. and no lifting involved..tools stayed in the drawers...

Us older guys understand this all to well. There's another saying also you hear around the doctors office; If I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.

Get an HO trailer from uhaul its under $40 and is a 6x12 open top low to the ground with a big wide ramp and a nice rail all around so tiedown is no problem at all

If you have a U-Haul or Ryder truck rental, see if they have the trailers the guys are talking about, or a truck with lift gate. Even being a DIY'r its not worth potentially damaging your new investment or worse hurting your back or other and be out of work, If you can afford it go the safer route, alot of guys have learned from experience here. Just my two cents good luck.

U-Haul ramp trailer. Done this dozens of times. $25/day. Works great, just bring some heavy ratchet straps, and something to protect the box where the straps might rub, (I use cardboard). Also a tarp if the weather is bad.

But getting that box in a pick-up is not impossible. 2x10 ramps will do it, but 3 guys to be on the safe side. Straight lift up to the bed, no ramps; 4 guys.

That box weighs 489lbs empty. Do the math.

Had 5 guys (incl. me) at the shop to push it up the ramps in the truck, then 3 (incl. me) to unload it. No problems whatsoever.
