Triple Outlet Cord Repair

I hve a nice heavy 100' cord that got damaged. I will replace the end, but I was thinking it would be nice to have triple outlets on it. Are these available? I don't want a metal box with multiple sockets in it.

All I've ever seen are the 3 into 1 pigtails.

Yeah, it is a good idea, but similar to a metal box with outlets in it, they are bulky and get drug on the ground and bang against everything. I wish I could find one that was compact, with tough thick rubber all around it.

If a cord with a 4 square, or any sheet metal box is used on a jobsite where OSHA has jurisdiction, they will cite you for it, they **** anyway because if dropped on a hard surface due to carelessness they don't fare well. One option is to use a 20A locking connector (or better yet a genuine Twistlock®) then a "W" splitter, or a "Y", with the locking connectors replaced w/ standard NEMA 5-15 connectors, not as neat & compact as a factory molded 3-way, but it works.

+1 ! Add a few tie wraps crisscrossed across the junction and it will be semi-permanent.

A common rubber 3 way cost 3$ or less on sale at Home Depot.

We had a 25 or 50 foot 12/3 SJO cable with a power strip on the end in our sound cabling inventory at UT. Worked out really well.

Just curious, what is kosher in the eyes of OSHA? Does it need to be weatherproof box? Better protected from physical damage? Something specifically designed for cord-end use?

Think of how many millions of them are in use...

Osha afaik is only premoulded.

I was reading something recently....where in certain application, a diy cord end is acceptable

I'd just use a single end and a 3-way adapter. I don't think they made 3-way ends, at least I've never seen one.

I got the cheap China version of one of these, as a freebie with a cheap China made plastic jacketed 12 gauge cord I bought at the box store one time. I haven't used it but once or twice but it worked great.

I bought a cheap China version of one of those too, from China Freight. One of the sockets intermittently worked and didn't work. It started to burn and smoke.

I must find one now that you bring it up. I have a 35' with a built in triple and I use it all the time to run a miter saw and table saw, and sometimes I like to run a shop vac too for dust collection. Anyway my middle receptacle has some issues and I'd love to replace the end so I don't have to deal with it.
