Enco has what appears to be a very good deal on a set of Silver and Deming USA made high speed steel drill bit set. The link for the set is located here:

http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=240-6548

I realize the limitations of silver and deming bits, but I do not have the ability right now to access more than 1/2 inch drill press chuck. Plus these would work with my Milwaukee Hole Hog. This set is cheaper than many of the non-USA made S&D sets. This set seems to be sold by other retailers for $200-$300 and I like USA made steel tools.

My question is: Does anyone have experience with Triumph Twist Drill company or this set in particular? Would you recommend this set? Home / hobby use for drilling through mild steel, max 1/2 inch thick (and usually 1/4 or 3/16).

Thank you!

Triumph Twist are top notch drills. They are usually not as expensive as Precision Twist, but people say they are the same quality. Search practicalmachinist.com for tons of reviews.

I'll have to dig through my emails at home, but Norseman drills are us made, top notch, and can be found for less than the Triumph.

Precision Twist is importing drills from Brazil and while they aren't bad, I've had issues with them snapping while drilling access holes in some 80/20.

Triumph makes good drill bits. They are generally still made in Northern Minnesota. Precision Twist sold the Triumph brand to them a few years ago. Norseman generally makes black & gold bits 135 degree in Saint Paul. For hand drill use I find once you get to larger sizes, over 3/8" - 7/16" 118 degree works better, less problems with break through. I would buy either depending on my needs and have. Both are in my drill drawer.

Appreciate everyone's feedback. I went ahead and purchased these. Good customer service at Enco and UPS shipping by Friday this week (2 days) for $10. Tax free since I'm in Texas.
