Unusual mismade 7/16 socket

I recently discovered a 7/16 6 point socket that was supposed to be 1/4 drive but the ratchet attachment point is not there. It's a solid end, no way to put a ratchet of any kind in this wacky socket. Research has said there's probably less than 20 of these on the entire planet, of the hundreds of millions of sockets made daily.Who knows how many 7/16 sockets exist worldwide. This is one of the rarest tool making errors that has ever occurred.

I foresee a Sotheby's rare and unusual items auction very soon. Minimum bid will be $500,000.

Now if were only a 10 mm socket, then you could double that.

I seem to remember similar errors, usually from those 40 piece socket sets from the local cheapo auto parts store (made in an unnamed east asian country) for the low low price of $19.95...

To find its true value list it for sale. There could possibly also be an unbroached socket special interest group on Facebook. Perfect slug for hydraulic press use or slingshot ammo.

I was in small metal piece machining and manufacturing for 30 years and have seen a few operator’s heads bang into a piece of swaging or roll stamp machinery when they dozed off. Roll stamp dies installed backwards, Etc. I also handled scrap sales so saw a few things to make you go WTF.

Oh, no doubt. This forum has had numerous funny examples of Friday end of shift follies. And those are just the ones that make it past QC. But I was poking fun at the math (hundreds of millions of sockets are not being made daily, and hundreds of thousands of them are not mistakes) and the idea that finding one is worth anything more than a chuckle. There are some antique and vintage tools with 'mistakes' that make them unique and, in some cases, more valuable. But this is certainly not one of them.
