Utilitech Pro LED trim $24.98 at Lowes (any feedback?)

Was at Lowes Friday and saw these on sale at the end of an aisle. Figured at that price I'd give on a try.

We have an alcove in our master bath that functions as a secondary closet/laundry area where I thought I'd try it. The area has three, 6" cans in close proximity so I thought I could compare it to our preferred 75 watt par 30 halogens.

This trim seems to have minimal lag and my best guess is that it is more of a flood type light rather than a spot. The area is narrow so it's hard to tell for sure. I prefer the light characteristics of the halogen but this area can get warm if you're in there working for a while so I wanted to switch to something that ran cooler.

Anyone heard anything good or bad on these? Thinking about picking up a few more and finishing off this area and possibly putting some in our workout room as well.

I used 11 of these in my basement. Same item, I just didn't get them at HD. In terms of color temperature, you can't tell they're not incandescent. They really keep the excess heat down. If they're anything like what you're looking at, you'll like them.

Thanks for the link. Good to see LED trims coming down in price. I bought two from an electrical supplier a few years ago and they were over $50 each. Literally the first two they sold. They were for a hard to reach area over our stairwell so I was willing to pay the price at the time.

Unfortunately the nearest Home Depot is over two hours away and the item you linked to is not available for shipping.

Did you compare those trims to any LED bulbs? I have a couple of areas of my basement that I want to get as bright as possible and I see I can get Par 30 LEDs with 1000+ lumens for under $40.

My wife likes the streamlined look of the trims, however, so I may just get the brighter bulbs for the workout room and the trims for everywhere else.

I much prefer the HD EcoSmart LEDs (I want to say I have about 30+ of them now), warmer color temperature and a lower dimming range.

HD will price match Lowes price on the comparable trim, and they will also match other deals... ex. Menards had two for $30 on 6" LED trims a few weeks ago, or $15 a piece.

Our cans are not standard - apparently - so those didn't work for us. Plus the ones I did try had a more focused beam than a Br-30 cfl. YMMV
