UV Clear over RockSolid?

This message is primarily for @Shea - thank you for all of your contributions to Garage Journal - I have read a bunch of your posts and they are very informative! (I can't send you a PM yet, as this this my first post...)

I have a Q that I didn't see an answer to on the forum - I got some RockSolid material at a very good price, and want to use it on my garage floor. My garage doors have windows, though, and also I live in AZ where it's very sunny. I was wondering if it's possible to put some kind of clear coat over the RockSolid that has UV protection in it (if I read correctly, theirs does not). Do you think that's possible, and is it a practical idea?

Hi Randy and thanks for the kudos. There are a lot of good people here that help others out.

Yes, you could apply a U.V. stable clear coat, but it's not going to prevent the RockSolid from ambering eventually. It may slow up how quickly it does in the areas that see direct sun, but it will still happen.

Thank you, Shea - is it permissible to ask for a name of product or two that would fit into that category? I am OK with delaying it somewhat - I want to put a clear on top anyway for appearance, and anything that helps there is good!

For what it's worth.
When I was looking at using RockSolid I found Rustoleum makes a UV Stable Polyurea called FastKote (https://www.rustoleum.com/product-c...ete-saver/polyurea-floor-coatings/fastkote-uv)
It comes in Clear. That's what they recommended when I called them. They also recommended a primer that was from their industrial line as well since I was not wanting to grind my floor. Can't remember the name of it, but you can't buy it a a big box store you have to get it from 1 of their venders.
I was just trying to stay with the same brands for compatibility and make sure they all worked together.
Call them, they where very helpful
End the end though for the money and time I decided to go with tiles.

Yep, this is great advice to stay within the manufacturer's line. You can apply a different brand clear coating, however, we don't know of one that has been tested to be compatible with RockSolid polycuramine when attempting a chemical bond a few hours after application. Most people have been allowing the RockSolid to cure first, then rough up the surface with 120 grit sandpaper to achieve a mechanical bond.
