VCT over existing epoxy floor

I have done tons of research and think I've finally decided to go with the VCT tiles for my garage. When I first moved into this house about 5 years ago I did the DIY rustoleum epoxy floor from Home Depot. Overall its in very good shape and not peeling up or lifting up. Will the Armstrong VCT tiles be able to adhere to the epoxy floor?

Epoxy is not listed in most VCT adhesive data sheets as a material that it will not adhere to. However, many data sheets state not to apply it to paint or coatings due to the fact that paint and coatings are subject to peeling. Degreasing and then roughing up the coating surface is the typical prep required for VCT adhesive.

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. Since the epoxy is in good shape and not peeling I kind of thought roughing it up and going with the VCT would be okay. At least I hope so haha

Should be fine. That tile glue can about stick snot to a chicken's lip.

The only thing I see is that the vct glue may take a bit longer to dry before you can start laying the tiles. On bare concrete it generally dries a little faster. I have put vct down over painted floors before without any issue. I don't recall doing it over epoxy but certainly may have.
