Got this from my grandfather's estate.

Need to take a closer look at the manual, but thought I'd post it here.

I got one of those, thought I'd use it for tapping. Unfortunately mine uses Yankee style bits.

Do you mind scanning the literature for uploading to the archive.org manual library?

I've got a Versamatic in a really nice box but no instruction manual. Would like to know how the thing works. Been sitting in a drawer in the shop since I found it.

Hmm, interesting. Mine came with a Yankee style shank flat head screwdriver. Took me forever to realize I could remove something to make other things fit.

I think this will still take a Yankee-style bit. The flat side of the but will go on one side of the pin. Haven't tried it, as I don't have any Yankee bits to experiment with. In fact, I haven't tried it at all yet.

I think when it’s in the drill, you hold one of the halves with your hand to determine rotation. My dad had one when I was a kid.

Edit, this should show how it works

I found some on the net, think I saved to my hard drive.
Got it now. The collar that you unscrew to reverse had come loose. A vise, a socket and few judicious taps of the ol' hammer and it works now!

I think this might come in handy for tapping on the DP. Being able to stop instantly by releasing the grip is perfect. For reversing, the way it works is wonky and too slow, but my DP is reversible.

That's why I grabbed mine, then the Yankee part slowed me down. The directions said how to make a tap fit.
Mine has the 1/4" square male plug. I was thinking of buying a set of 1/4" tap sockets--something I really should have anyway.

Still hoping to someday stumble across a Supreme Tapmatic in the wild....
