Vice i.d.

I picked up this old amco #77 vice at a flea market for $15.
I did a little research on the internet, but come up short on a #77.

Anyone know about theses vices?

You got a pretty good deal I'd say.---Don't know much about them except they bolt down to the bench with a square head bolt through the bench.---Square head goes in the slot.---Nice catch.

A M Co, is Athol Machine Company, one of the early names for the company that produced Athol vises. They were later taken over by Starrett but still used the Athol name for a number of years afterward.

I had a vise like that at one time. Interesting in that the rear jaw is the dynamic jaw.

Are you sure it is not a Number 71?

You are correct it is a #71. For some reason I thought the casting was not great on the second 7, but it's a 71.
